There is an expression, If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
At what point do we determine if something is broken?
Is the dam broken when a slight bulge appears, or cracks are visible or do we wait until the flood takes over the valley?
When do we start to fix the problem?
Signs of the ageing technology has been appearing all around us for decades. Now they are escalating. Everyone focused on using technology. Meanwhile, no attention is given to technology maintenance to meet the growing demand.
We have had hundreds killed, billions of people effected, trillions of dollars lost plus countless failures and security breaches.
But the approach remains unchanged.
What needs to happen before changing focus from consuming technology with band-aid solutions towards fixing the underlying foundation?
If it ain't broken, please DO maintain it. Don’t wait for total disaster.
We must begin technology maintenance before the total disaster is upon us.
