At a conference, a speaker popped this picture on the screen and proudly said: This is where technology is leading us, and we need to get onboard.
I had such a strong and immediate reaction that I left the room.
I spent a lot of time thinking about, what triggered that reaction? There was nothing new about the photo, nor the statement!
I was already on my journey with SAM (SmarterApproach® Methodology), trying to make others see, the signs of the ageing technology and, the need for a sustainable circular technological economy.
So, why this reaction?
Then I realised, technology has become an addiction and a cancer to the economy.
Everyone is so focused on the next technological product; that no one is asking: To what end?
Is our goal; to replace humanity with machines? An everlasting note to say: Humanity was here! Or, is it to improve the quality and longevity of life?
If the latter, then how is humanity going to benefit from the current trajectory?
How can we ensure the focus stays in the right direction?
Maybe, there is even a bigger question: Who decides on what is the right direction?
Questions… Questions… Questions…
What do you think?
